Pointless But Entertaining Video Output

I’m a huge fan of the VideoLAN media client because of it’s lightweight, simplistic frontend, and because of it’s overwhelmingly extensible/infinitely customizable guts. It plays just about every kind of video file you can think of, without the need for downloading extra codecs, and it has all sorts of great features like built-in subtitle support (if you download a lot of foreign DVDs, for example), audio output to file, the ability to read multiple audio streams within a file, and a fullscreen wallpaper mode.

I was going through the wealth of “advanced” video options available in the program today and stumbled across an ASCII output filter. Who codes this kind of stuff?? Anyway, I thought a couple screenshots were in order:

Napoleon Dynamite:

Shaun of the Dead:

Ren and Stimpy:

I love open-source software for this reason…
