My 10,000th Picture

by zhx

I noticed a couple days ago that the filenames my camera was producing were in the 9800s, so I knew I’d be coming up on my D80′s 10,000th exposure soon. I thought it would be neat to really think the 10,000th frame through and make it something cool to commemorate, to really demonstrate how far I’ve come as a photographer in those two years. Unfortunately, I forgot about it today and was taking pictures of Nina’s cat meowing when the number flipped back around to DSC_0001. Not only was my white balance set for my flash, I was also shooting on my camera’s highest ISO setting — 3 steps above ISO 1600, cryptically labelled H1.0 — so it’s the grainiest, orangest photo ever. It happens. Here it is, exactly as my camera shot it, except for a resize/save as JPG, of course.

I got my D80 exactly 770 days ago today, meaning I shoot, on average, about 13 photos a day. Not bad, considering for the first several months I was here I wasn’t shooting a whole hell of a lot.
