Okay, I Have a Nice Camera

I’m killing time until it gets closer to sunset, when my lovely girlfriend/human-lightstand-assistant plan to hit up an east side skatepark for some photos. I was taking pictures of her cat, and ended up getting one of the sharpest photos I’ve ever shot. Sometimes it’s nice to look at my photos at 100% so I don’t feel so bad about the camera being almost three years old (about 150 in digital years) and the release of its successor; it’s still more than enough camera for me. Also, I never would have gotten a shot like this when I was shooting only natural light. Something about working with off-camera flash makes your camera look about twice as powerful (the second photo is a detailed crop of the first one). I also like the third one because I can’t figure out how his legs are doing what they’re doing. There’s just a bunch of feet everywhere.
Very excellent details. Surprisingly crisp for how it looks via the interweb. Keep it up man. Make a portfolio and go get some work. You’ve got skills.
Yeah, I have a project coming up that should hopefully create the groundwork for a decent portfolio.
And yeah, those pictures lost a bit in the translation to the web, but most of the detail is still there.

Umm, 1/50 at f/1.8, ISO 100. I shot it with my 50mm, with my flash about two feet away (camera left), bounced off a gold reflector disc at 1/16th power I think.
