Apple Brainwashing
by zhx
I noticed on the Apple site the other day that in any instance in which they mention that Macs can run Windows, they show it with the default Windows XP desktop, including the hideous bright blue “Playskool” task bar and the clouds/hills wallpaper. It looks painfully dated, Photoshopped onto their sleek hardware. They often show this right next to the default Mac OS X layout, with its wacky blue/purple spacescape with big shiny icons filling the dock. Just another little example I noticed of how Apple, however subtly, goes out of their way to paint this image of Windows as this lumbering dinosaur that refuses to evolve (Windows XP — and it’s iconic ugly desktop — turns 8 years old in October). We run Vista on Nina’s iMac and it looks great next to OS X. And let’s not forget that Windows 7 launches in October, as well. Will Apple update their example screenshots to reflect the fact that not only has XP received multiple facelifts since its inception, Microsoft has released two major upgrades of their operating system since XP? Doubtful.
…and the mac wallpaper is designed to hide the annoying glossy screen reflections in photos.
YEAH!
